Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin preparing to break the ultimate milestone

Pundits like Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff.com are wondering if Ovechkin can achieve the goal as he has reached the age of 38 and has shown significant decline in his game. The Capitals themselves have also declined dramatically over the past several years as the team is far from complete.

Ovechkin only needs 42 goals to become the all-time leader in goal scoring and it's likely the team along with the organization will do everything it can to help him achieve that goal as the record has been stood for decades.

I certainly believe that he is more than capable of becoming this champion as he has shown over the years that when he is determined it's likely he will succeed. He currently has two years remaining left on his deal with the capitals and will likely be his last unless he signs an extra one-year deal if the goal has not been met.

It's safe to say that this will be a fun story to watch as all fans currently will get to witness history being made.
