The team, a combination of players of Pakistani descent was put together by former NHL senior official Donny Khan with assistance from a former NHL intern Umar Khan. Both men were able to find 18 players across North America who meet the requirements to represent the team and used word of mouth, social media, and other networking avenues in order to get the word out.
After suffering a close 6-5 loss to Mexico and an 8-3 drubbing at the hands of Chile, Pakistan turned it around against Brazil and scored their first victory 5-2. Other nations involved in the tournament were Argentina, Colombia, Greece, Armenia, Egypt and Puerto Rico amongst the 52 teams split between men, women, and youth teams.
