Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were both tragically killed last Thursday when Sean Higgins, a drunk driver; struck both men as they were cycling as he attempted to pass around idling vehicles.

Admitting to police that he had consumed alcohol prior to operating his vehicle, while also having a prior arrest (but no charges) for a DUI in 2005 are just some of the many terrible mistakes that Higgins has made, and it's left the entire hockey world shaken and a family torn apart.
A new report has come out explaining the circumstances as to why the Gaudreau brothers were tragically at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Per John Buccigross, the Gaudreau brothers decided to ride home on bikes as opposed to a car, limousine or going back with family. They were coming back from the dinner rehearsal when they were fatally struck; it's commendable that both men decided to enjoy the weather, and hang out together as if they were kids again; only to be snatched away by the heinous actions of one person.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Gaudreau family during this immensely difficult and strenuous time.
Rest in Peace Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau; the world will not be the same without you here.
