Perhaps it was coaching the most popular franchise in hockey, maybe it was the unrelenting media who would not rest until they had Keefe cowering; but the up-and-down successes of Keefe during his tenure in Toronto can't be overlooked. He was great in the regular season, he created a speedy, dexterous identity but it never translated to anything besides a 2nd round elimination.
Getting a chance to shine outside of the spotlight, in a city where although the accents are thick; the people aren't. They know that Keefe got a bad rap in Toronto and their media, while still vicious when they need to be; aren't going to be bloodthirsty. Vegas booking odds seem to agree with the change of scenery.
Vegas released the odds for the next Jack Adams Trophy winner; the award given to the top coach in the league and Keefe tops the charts at a very favourable +00 odds; followed closely by Travis Green in Ottawa with +800. Toronto's Craig Berube makes the list at +1200 and should he see a long playoff run could find that number shrink.
