Toronto Maple Leafs send condolences to Gaudreau family after passing of NHLer Johhny and his brother Matthew

The Toronto Maple Leafs offered their best wishes and condolences to the Gaudreau family through a posting on their X account.

Clearly it's not easy for any team, player, or front office staff to comprehend how such a tragic accident can occur; it has to hit home hard for Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving, who spent a lot of time with Gaudreau during his time with the Calgary Flames. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman also released a statement you can read here

The accident occurred on Thursday night in New Jersey, just a day before the Gaudreau brothers were set to be the groomsmen at their sister's wedding; it's been noted the accident was due to a driver under the influence who was trying to pass illegally.
