Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau both tragically passed away on Thursday night due to an accident in which they were struck by a vehicle while cycling and the sports world has come together to offer their condolences.

Known for his humble nature and infectious charisma, Johnny Gaudreau touched the hearts of fans all over the world, and while his brother Matthew never made it to the NHL, he still had a successful college and minor career; both careers cut short way too soon.
As tributes pour in from NHL teams, other professional sports leagues, politicians, and fans; who were seen leaving flowers, mementos and purple Gatorade in honour of Gaudreau, with one coming from a legend with a deep connection to Calgary.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames player Lanny McDonald took the time to post a brief statement regarding the passing of the two Gaudreau brothers, and it's a beautiful bit of poetry.
"Go easy on those legends up there in heaven's hockey rink, boys. You're getting there earlier than expected, but they'll take good care of you."
It's a tearjerking post to say the least, and a beautiful sentiment from an icon of the game. It's safe to say that both men will be remembered by fans, colleagues and family alike, forever.
