The World Junior Summer Showcase is an event where Canada's best competes to vie for their spot as roster members for the annual IIHF World Junior Tournament.

Easton Cowan is one of those players, and the standout forward has been nothing short of impressive in his time with London. But it seems now that he will get to showcase his skills on the international stage, this time though is a bit less surprising.
He's earned the praise of fellow prospects like Oliver Bonk calling the dynamic forward an "insanely skilled player" and seems extremely excited to have Cowan suiting up beside him.
TSN's Mark Masters notes that Cowan is more than likely going to gain a roster spot, and indicated that his departure from camp prematurely signals the team no longer needs to see if he develops into something they need; clearly he is and is headed back to Leafs camp to train. If he does make the NHL roster, he would be able to play for Canada but if he's on a hot streak perhaps the Leafs may be hesitant at first.
Cowan recorded an astounding 96 points in 54 games including an unprecedented 36-game point streak for the London Knights this past season.
