Vaive scored at least 50 goals each season over a three year span while also chipping in with a ton of penalty minutes, showing he wasn't afraid to get gritty when necessary. He retired in 1993 and immediately transitioned into coaching, while having two sons; Justin and Jeff.
Jeff Vaive was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 and while he hasn't found success at the NHL level, he has had a solid and fruitful career in the AHL and ECHL. He is currently the captain of the Cincinnati Cyclones, and in doing so has made a bit of hockey history. With Toronto taking over the Cyclones as their ECHL affiliate, the Vaive's made their mark.
While Justin perhaps hasn't reached the heights of his old man, he's had a repsectable minor league career. He's registered 167 goals and 133 assists in the ECHL and 31 goals and 36 assists in the AHL and is currently in his 5th year as captain of the Cincinnati Cyclones.
