Though it may seem minor, the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost out on another goaltender this offseason as the Philadelphia Flyers snatched up former Maple Leafs goalie prospect Keith Petruzzelli and signed him to an AHL deal.

Petruzzelli was drafted in 2017 by Detroit in the 3rd round (88th overall) and played at Quinnipiac University where he enjoyed a solid career before eventually being signed by the Leafs in 2021.
His time with the Marlies was brief, but he put together a 22-17-4 record; this past season he had a 6-8-2 record to go along with a 3.55 GAA and a .867 save percentage. While he may have struggled this season, he hopes to bounce back for the Flyers.
The reason for this signing could be the hesitancy of the Flyers to continue with Alexei Kolosov. The young netminder told the Lehigh Valley Phantoms he would not be returning to the team next year after a very rough season. The Belarusian was often placed in a hotel by himself, unable to get acquainted with his teammates and felt his English skills may have been a factor.
Per Tony Androck on X,
"They put him in the hotel by himself & he felt isolated, especially since his English isn't great," a source told Androckitis.
The Flyers however have the likes of Cal Petersen and Parker Gahagen in the wings so it remains to be seen if Petruzzelli can crack the code and find some consistent playing time or whether he'll be doing the same rodeo next season.
