The Toronto Maple Leafs tend to trade away players before they reach their prime, eschewing potential for the "win-now" attitude and Mason Marchment is one such case.

Marchment had a solid few years since being traded from Toronto, registering 54 goals and 87 assists in a depth role for the Panthers and Stars (a depth role the Leafs desperately need right now).
In February of 2020, the Leafs shipped off Marchment; the son of former NHLer Bryan Marchment to Florida for Denis Malgin who most notably won a Swiss League championship earlier this year. Malgin never amounted to anything in Toronto, only scoring 4 points in 31 games, and was promptly shipped off to Colorado for spare parts.
The Leafs missed the boat on this one, as hanging onto Marchment would have provided the team with grittiness and scoring acumen while possibly blossoming into a top-6 role; he could have been the new Darcy Tucker and a legend in the city for all we know. But for now, he looks to settle into his own in the Lonestar state.
