NHL.com's Official 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs Lineup Breakdown
The Maple Leafs tried to find themselves a new identity during the offseason, and brought in the likes of Chris Tanev to shore up the defense and sign a solid backup in Anthony Stolarz; while also assigning Craig Berube to handle the coaching duties, it seems the Leafs went with bigger and grittier, with a mindset catered to maximize every player's potential.
Dave McCarthy of NHL.com released his official projected lineup for the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 2024-2025 Season. He spoke about the additions to the Leafs such as Tanev, Stolarz and Oliver-Ekman Larsson as well as important departures like Tyler Bertuzzi.
The Leafs look set to display a different identity this coming season, adding bulk and height in order to create a more complete shutdown defence, and shoring up the goaltending should rookie Joseph Woll struggle.

Per Dave McCarthy, this is how he projects the 2024-2025 Maple Leafs to lineup:
Matthew Knies -- Auston Matthews -- Mitch Marner
Bobby McMann -- John Tavares -- William Nylander
Pontus Holmberg -- Max Domi -- Calle Jarnkrok
Connor Dewar -- David Kampf -- Ryan Reaves
Defensemen:
Morgan Rielly -- Chris Tanev
Oliver Ekman-Larsson -- Timothy Liljegren
Simon Benoit -- Jake McCabe
Joseph Woll
Anthony Stolarz
This lineup is based upon the Leafs staying put with what they have, barring any surprise transactions. If the youth movement can make a push for a spot in training camp, these may change however as of now it looks like this is what we'll see come October.
McCarthy could be onto something with pairing the Swedish defenders together, as Lilegren could learn a few things from his fellow countryman. We also could see Berube decide to stack the deck and swap out Knies for Nylander and create a dynamic top line that could rival any in the past few years. Maple Leafs Latest looked into this possibility; link below.
It remains to be seen if there will be significant changes to the Leafs roster come October, but one thing is for certain; they'll certainly look a lot scarier.
