NHL Network correspondent and NHL Insider gives his predictions for Atlantic Division Standings

Toronto hasn't seen themselves at the top of their division for over 20 years, and although they have fielded some great teams over the years, there was always a team that seemed to slip ahead right at the end. Often times this led to Toronto to have a bit of a tougher time in the playoffs as opposed to sitting as a first seed.

It seems like more of the same according to NHL.com's Dave McCarthy, although Toronto seems to be nipping at the heels of the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers.

As you can see Toronto sits 2nd according to McCarthy and with their recent regular season success it's no surprise to see them so high on the list. Followed by Original Six rival Boston Bruins as Tampa sits behind them in 4th, surely due to the loss of key players like Steven Stamkos.

Rounding out the bottom four are Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal and Detroit. It's a bit surprising to see Montreal so far down as they've made moves recently with the acquisition of Patrik Laine, while Buffalo; who has a deep contingent of young players, consistently refuses to do much of anything beyond some depth piece additions.

If Toronto can ride a successful regular season into a strong postseason and win three rounds for the first time in franchise history they could very well find themselves atop McCarthy's list come this time next summer.
