When Toronto signed Ryan Reaves they had one thing in mind: intimidation. The 6'2, 226-pound enforcer is not known for his scoring prowess but his game changing jabs and hooks, never one to back down from any altercation. It brings back the days of Tie Domi and Darcy Tucker; two players who never shied away from the bigger guys.
A lot of fans were concerned that Toronto may have overpaid for the winger as his role is very one-dimensional, his presence is undeniable and has teams thinking twice about taking a run at the stars of the Maple Leafs, and it's being noticed.
Grimson, who himself accumulated over 2000 penalty minutes in his career, and being an intimidating presence at 6'6 would know a few things about having a tilt or two; and for Reaves to solidify himself as the top dog in the league has to feel good.
Reaves looks to keep up his tough guy mentality as Toronto looks to make a deep playoff push, and Reaves may be the spark they need to get over those tougher moments. He recorded 4 goals for the Leafs last season, though is capable of scoring as he had nearly 10 goals in back to back years for the Vegas Golden Knights.
