Coming off a breakout season where he cemented his spot in the lineup, Matthew Knies took time to speak to the youth movement this summer, appearing at a hockey camp in Minnesota.
The hockey camp, ran by fellow Maple Leaf Mikey Koster as well as Jackson Jutting (both Minnesota natives) and provides on ice skills development, scrimmages, team building activities and guest speakers/appearances. Some of those guests included Minnesota Wild star Brock Faber, St. Louis Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud, and New York Islanders defenseman Mike Reilly alongside the aforementioned Knies.
Knies and Koster played together for the University of Minnesota, and while Knies has found a spot in Toronto, Koster, a 5th round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2019 remains unsigned going into his final season at Minnesota.
It looks like Knies, while providing on-ice support to Toronto and looks to build upon his first full season where he broke out, scoring 35 points; is gracious enough to offer his help and advice to the hopeful NHLer's of the future and make sure they have the confidence and knowledge to grow and become the next great hockey stars, both men and women.
