Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has been the subject of a lot of speculation regarding his contract and how he will fare this season with a new coach and mentality.
But if Wednesday's media scrum was any indication, it looks like Marner is going to be feeling pretty peachy keen about new head coach Craig Berube. He addressed the new head coach saying:
""Craig has been awesome... It's been great talking to him all summer. We're excited for this year, we're excited to get it going. He's been a joyful new mind and we're excited to play under him. Talking with Craig throughout the summer, he's been amazing. He's bringing a great new mindset to the team. I talked to a lot of people that have been under his coaching and I've only heard great things. We're very excited to have him." -Marner on Berube
It's very hopeful and humble words from the winger, who looks to perform in a contract year that could see him either see himself in Blue and White for a long time, or if he decides that enough is enough and he wants out. Either way, this year looks to be a big step in the Mitch Marner saga.
