It would behoove the Leafs to at least offer the league minimum, and Giordano is coming off a down year which was marred by injuries and off-ice tragedies. At this point, if he were to get into training camp he would be a hybrid player-coach where he could give a hands on crash course in leadership while also maintaining a presence on the ice.
Once a stalwart for the Calgary Flames, Giordano has enjoyed a fruitful career; having scored 577 points in over 1100 games. He posted his best season in 2018-2019 with 17 goals and 57 assists and currently sits 1st in NHL history for shots blocked.
