Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan receives invite to massive rookie showcase

The event, which takes place at the Washington Capitals' practice arena; the MedStar Capitals Iceplex on September 4th will feature a host of rookies including Macklin Celebrini, Josh Doan, Cutter Gauthier and Matvei Michkov amongst others.

This builds off a season which saw him light up the lamp for the London Knights, scoring 96 points in 54 games which included a 36-game point streak and put together an astounding 34 points in 18 playoff games. His performance this past season led him to walk away with not only the OHL Championship, but the Red Tilson Trophy for Most Outstanding Player, and the Gretzky 99 Trophy as the OHL Playoff MVP.

Clearly the talent is there however the leap from juniors to the big leagues isn't always a smooth transition. It's a good thing then that he's been working with both Auston Matthews and John Tavares as he tries to secure his spot come the end of camp.

For those excited about Cowan's preseason, mark September 22nd on your calendar, as that's the first Maple Leafs preseason game where there is no doubts that Cowan will get a strong look right out of the gate.
