It looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs could still be adding a last-minute piece to their roster according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
In his latest '32 Thoughts' article, Friedman spoke about the Maple Leafs yearning for a more suitable winger to bring aboard in the case that Easton Cowan or Fraser Minten fail to impress, of if they just want some more veteran stability.
"I think there are things percolating out there, including Toronto considering left-wing options."
While there isn't currently any names attached to the report, Toronto would be hard pressed not to at least have a look at the remaining players kicking around the free agent market. Someone like a Kevin Labanc or Max Pacioretty could be a solid depth piece that could add an offensive touch while also maintaining a vocal presence in the locker room.
With Toronto having $1.275M in cap, they don't have much room to work with unless they dump one of their assets like a David Kampf in order to shore up some space to add one or possibly two pieces. GM Brad Treliving has a bit of work to do if he wants to ensure Toronto is in the best place possible come October.
