Hakanpaa has been reported of suffering from a knee injury that may result in his contract going to long term injury reserve. Reports explained that his knee is a bone-on-bone situation which could prevent him from playing hockey ever again. He had signed a contract with Toronto for a two year deal the cap hit of $1.5 million per season.
If the Maple Leafs could strike a deal of a one-year contract with league minimum of $775,000, Giordano would give the dressing room invaluable experience that they have been enjoying for the past couple of years.
At this point, the Maple Leafs do not seem to be keen on bringing him back, but the team knows what they're getting if they decided to sign him. Giordano has played 1148 games, scoring 158 goals with 577 points who is the oldest player in the NHL. He averaged 16 minutes and 37 seconds of ice time and gives the dressing room that leadership quality that all teams look for.
