Maple Leafs starting goalie Joseph Woll will have his first full season ahead of him as the man who will hopefully help lead the Maple Leafs to the promised land, and he spoke recently with One Goal Magazine and showed how he prepares for game days.

In the interview, he describes his video sessions and how he analyzes what the defensemen are doing at the time and where he should be to make the save. Woll, who only has 36 games of NHL experience will be playing at the top level for the first time in his career and will push himself and his physical abilities to the limit, so any amount of education is essential for his success.
General Manager Brad Treliving acquired some assistance for Woll as he signed Anthony Stolarz from the Florida Panthers fresh off his Stanley Cup win to a two-year deal to help back up Woll. It's quite likely that Treliving's vision is to have a tandem style goaltending for this year as he gives the veteran goaltender more starts to help Woll ease into the starting role.
Last season, Woll played 25 games, with a record of 12-11-1 with a 2.94 GAA and a save percentage of .907. He suffered a severe injury throughout the year which left him out for several weeks which derailed some of his numbers as he was rising quickly to becoming the main star of the team as former Leafs starter Ilya Samsonov struggled.
The Maple Leafs have improved their defense corps and have added a new head coach in Craig Berube; whose vision of strong defensive play from the team is as of much importance as trying to score goals. It's quite likely that Woll and the rest of the goaltending tandem will see their numbers rebound (pun unintentional).
