But obviously, the Leafs saw something in the former Oshawa General and the rookie embodies the new mentality instilled into the Leafs. Standing at 6'2 and 192 pounds, Danford is already a fairly beefy defender who can pack on several more pounds of muscle, which would allow his already defensive acumen to shine.
He's not opposed to scoring a bit either, adding 10 points in the playoffs for the Generals, but the Leafs will look to him to fill a future shutdown role while also hopefully tapping into a bit more of that offensive potential. Danford projects to go back to the OHL this year, but it may not be long until we see him dressed in blue and white.
