With the summer ending and training camp on the horizon, it appears a trade proposal was floated regarding Nick Robertson and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The proposal envisions Nick Robertson heading to the Philadelphia Flyers along with Calle Jarnkrok in exchange for Toronto-born Morgan Frost. Frost, who is the son of former Toronto Maple Leaf rink announcer Andy Frost was drafted by the Flyers in 2017, in the first round (27th overall)
Under John Tortorella Frost has not had the best experience and during the season he was benched several times and also put in the press box due to his lack of effort. He did however pick up his game later in the year as he played 71 games, scoring 13 goals with 28 assists for 41 points and a +4 +/-.
Trading for Frost would give him a change of scenery and bring him home. Working with head coach Craig Berube may be exactly what he needs to spark his career. He is currently on a one-year deal worth $2.1 million and will be a restricted free agent next offseason with arbitration rights.
It's been a few months since Nick Robertson had requested a trade out of the Maple Leafs due to lack of playing time, and while general manager Brad Treliving had given Robertson high praise and would like to continue to work with him to mold him into the lineup, there's a sense that he will be moved prior to the season beginning.
Moving him to the Flyers would make sense as he would have all kinds of playing time as the Flyers are continuing their rebuilding phase. With his speed and shot along with his defensive style, John Tortorella would approve of this move.
In the end it will all depend on how Treliving feels this can move forward. But one thing is clear, it will be resolved sooner than later and with Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten on the horizon, Robertson maybe looking from the outside rather than being on the inside.
