Steeves put together a solid season for the Marlies last year with 57 points in 65 games, and has 69 goals and 85 assists in 188 games for the Marlies in total, showing that he has the offensive presence the Leafs could use. Also being someone adept down the middle, he could slide into a 4th line role, with standout play popping him up in the lineup.
The former Notre Dame product was signed by Toronto as a free agent after being passed over in the draft twice and made his debut for Toronto during the 2021-2022 season. It remains to be seen if he can gain a spot on the 23-man roster but if he keeps up his dominant play in the AHL; the Leafs should give him a solid look.
