The additions of Chris Tanev, Cedric Pare and Philippe Myers as well as recently signing Ryan McCleary (link to story below) have added significant size and hard-nosed playstyles which will play heavily into new head coach's Craig Berube's strategy.
Solow, 25, scored 11 goals and added 15 assists last season for the Marlies but what was notable was the 132 PIM he racked up in 66 games including multiple games adding 10 or more in a game. He is known for being a thorn in teams' side and often finds himself the aggressor, throwing hard checks and not afraid to throw hands if needed.
Solow had a solid NCAA career with Northeastern University, where he averaged 11 goals and 15 assists through four years, an identical output to his Marlies stats a year ago.
While he may not be the first option when the Leafs need a scoring punch, if there's anyone they can call up who will throw bodies, hands, and whatever else for the sake of the team, it might be time to go Solow.
