Fresh off his victory at the OHL championships, where he also snagged the OHL MVP title, Cowan arrived at the camp noticeably bulkier than the previous year. This physical development complements his sharpened focus on what it will take to make the Leafs roster. He expressed a clear understanding of the expectations set before him.

Cowan's strategic emphasis is on refining his defensive gameplay. He detailed his approach, which involves improved on-ice awareness and tactical positioning.

This focus on defense is crucial, not only for Cowan but also for his peer, Fraser Minten. Recent seasons have seen Nick Robertson struggle to maintain a consistent presence in the Leafs lineup, largely due to defensive lapses.
