Harsh words, and ones that seemed to have stuck with Samsonov even after switching teams. Recently on Instagram, Samsonov took time to comment a sarcastic heart emoji on Ullmark's post where it shows the Swedish goalie ranked #10 in the league.
This was taking a dig at Ullmark's lower body injury he suffered during overtime in a game against the Arizona Coyotes in early 2024. Samsonov himself was injured during the season and suffered a brutal 2023-24 where he was 23-7-8 with a 3.01 GAA and .896 save %, so it's safe to say that he too has felt the sting of missing games.
Samsonov signed a 1-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights this offseason, meanwhile Ullmark was sent north to Ottawa in order to free up cap space. Both teams will have November 21 circled on their calendar, and it could be inevitable that some more words or possibly even fists will fly.
