The Nick Robertson saga is ongoing with seemingly no end in sight, and one NHL analyst isn't too pleased with Robertson's delay.

Thursday morning on TSN 1050's First Up, former Maple Leafs forward and current NHL analyst Mike Johnson gave his thoughts on the Robertson trade request and how it seems pretty clear there's a spot for him on the team.
"I certainly understand why he would be frustrated... Sheldon Keefe clearly didn't trust him and sometimes for good reason. Robertson wasn't the best in his own end," said Johnson. "I get the frustration. But Sheldon is not here anymore, Craig Berube is here. The fact that Tyler Bertuzzi didn't come back... There is a spot very clearly in the top-nine to play his minutes with good players. Nick Robertson may want to rethink that because he could have a really good opportunity this year. He doesn't have a lot of leverage... If I'm him, i would be chewing on that pretty hard right now...and then I might want to reconsider getting to camp and putting my best foot forward."
There's a lot to agree with here. Sheldon Keefe didn't really trust Robertson to handle high pressure situations and would lapse defensively sometimes but his offensive talent is undeniable and would fight for Top-6 minutes all year. The glaring hole that is Tyler Bertuzzi looks to be filled by either a rookie, or a veteran piece like Max Pacioretty. Robertson would easily trump either option and would excel under Craig Berube.
Johnson's request for Robertson to reconsider isn't too hard of an ask; it's clear Robertson feels he deserves playing time and his talent clearly shows that; he put up 14 goals and 13 assists for the Maple Leafs last season in only 11:23 of on-ice time and was also 4th on the team in shot percentage; not too shabby for his minimal ice time showing he maximized his opportunities, though few and far between.
If Robertson and the Maple Leafs can work together and figure out how to live harmoniously together, it could be a huge boost to a deep playoff push and the first Stanley Cup in 56 years.
