Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, drafted in the 3rd round (76th overall) by Toronto in the 2019 draft enjoyed a standout OHL career, including registering 63 assists in 55 games for the Peterborough Petes before the season was shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He bounced around between the ECHL and the AHL, debuting for the Leafs in 2022-23 in his only game that season.
Still only 23, Der-Arguchintsev enjoyed a solid season with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL going for an even split of 17 goals and 17 assists in 53 games. He would still be a key part of Traktor, and would be essentially locked there until the playoffs ended in Russia but could find himself fighting for a depth spot should injuries or struggles occur.
Traktor Chelyabinsk features former NHLer's Nikita Soshnikov, Vladimir Zharkov, Sergey Kalinin, and former Team Canada standout goaltender Zach Fucale and most recently lost in the semi-finals to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
Der-Arguchintsev could be a solid addition to the bottom-6 of Craig Berube's lineup instilling a bit of offensive punch and speed, though with his lack of size he would be hard pressed to fit into the new mentality but his talent is undeniable.
