Filip Zadina's camp confirms Maple Leafs have interest in the UFA winger

Drafted 6th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2018, he's failed to live up to expectations although he took a big step forward last season by putting up a career high in goals with 13. Though he's defensively not as strong as many other forwards in the league, a bottom-six pairing with Max Domi could lead to a breakout for the 24-year old.

Zadina still has some gas in the tank clearly, and his path to a job in the NHL again this year could lie in a PTO; though some teams may be willing to take a flier on him and end up signing him for cheap to add some insurance.

The Maple Leafs do have a few options besides Zadina with rookies Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten looking to cement their spot in the lineup, not to mention the signing of Alex Nylander; brother of William who has NHL experience and started to put the pieces together last season. Zadina could offer them a player who is still young and hungry and someone who still has the ability to blossom into a solid contributor at the NHL level.
