With depth pieces becoming more scarce by the day, it seems Toronto has missed out on yet another player who could have been beneficial to the team as a whole.
With the list of free agents dwindling down, the pickings seemed to be slim for the Leafs and perhaps a reunion with a former Flames defenseman could have been arranged, though it now seems that those plans have gone out the window.
Oliver Kylington, 27; has had a tough couple of seasons including a full hiatus to focus on his mental health but when he returned was a stalwart on the Flames blueline. The year before he stepped away he registered a solid 31 points in 73 games to go along with a +34 rating which indicates his defensive capabilities.
The Colorado Avalanche have decided that potential is enough to secure a one-year deal with the defenseman.
One would think Leafs GM Brad Treliving would look to his past in order to shore up his future in 2024-25 but just as their name suggests; the Avalanche flew in quickly and swept Kylington away.
