Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren has been a hot topic on the trading block for several weeks, but now there are reportedly two forwards on the block as well.

In addition to Liljegren, the Leafs are also open to trading two veteran forwards, Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf.
Before the draft, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that the Leafs were considering trading Liljegren to free up some much-needed cap space. Recently, the Leafs signed Liljegren to a two-year extension worth $3 million per season. This deal, which avoids arbitration, makes him a more appealing asset for other teams. According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Leafs are now also willing to move on from Jarnkrok and Kampf to further manage their cap situation.
"They would look at moving Kampf, Jarnkrok, or Timothy Liljegren in the right deal. I should be very clear, that is not to say they are trying to get rid of them at all costs, but I think that because of the Leafs' salary cap, they are pretty tight up against it," said Johnston on the latest edition of 'The CJ Show'. "Really, at this point of the off-season, their blueline looks different, [they] obviously made the move in net, but I think they will have to get creative to address any changes they want to make at forward."

Johnston emphasized that the Leafs are not simply offloading these players to free up cap space but are open to listening to potential offers that could benefit the team.
"Those types of players could be had, but I don't have any reason to believe anything is close or will happen. Entering this offseason, they were open-minded about that. The reason those players have the contracts they do, they do provide a function. It's just, if they could upgrade by moving those players to create the cap room, I think they do so."

Jarnkrok has two years left on his deal, carrying a cap hit of $2.1 million per season, while Kampf has three seasons remaining with a cap hit of $2.4 million per season. Both players also have modified no-trade clauses, including 10-team no-trade lists, giving them some control over their potential destinations.
The Leafs' willingness to trade these players highlights their need to manage the salary cap creatively. With changes already made to the blueline and in net, the focus now shifts to potential upgrades at forward positions.
