During Thursday's 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren was forced to leave the game during the 2nd period and did not return for the 3rd period, effectively ending his night early.
With a lot of question marks surrounding Liljegren's condition, Leafs Nation breathed a sigh of relief when the 23-year-old skated with the team on Saturday morning. However, even though Liljegren skated with the team, he may not play.
The Leafs' official PR account is reporting that the team has recalled Marlies defenseman Mac Hollowell on an emergency basis, meaning that he could be an option if Liljegren isn't healthy enough to go tonight. The other option available to the Leafs is veteran blueliner Jordie Benn, who was activated from IR yesterday.
Hollowell has looked pretty good in his 6-game run with the Leafs this season. Over his 6 games, the team is 5-1, with their lone loss coming against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Dec 3rd. Hollowell has notched a pair of assists, totaling 2 points in his 6 appearances this season. Not a bad start for the rookie.
