It's been mostly bad news lately regarding the Leafs' blueline. Injuries to Jake Muzzin, Morgan Rielly, T.J. Brodie, Jordie Benn and Timothy Liljegren have the blueline looking pretty depleted in Toronto, yet still the Buds continue to roll, losing just once in regulation over the last month.

Well, some good news to announce on a Friday, as the injured Jordie Benn has finally been activated from IR and appears poised to return to the lineup. Not a moment too soon either, as Liljegren left last night's game against New York with an apparent hand injury.
We don't yet know the extent of Liljegren's injury, as the 23-year-old is expected to undergo tests to determine the significance of the damage today. Hopefully we'll have an update on that before long. However, Benn coming back couldn't have come at a better time, as now the Buds will not need to re-insert rookie Mac Hollowell or call another depth defenseman up from the Marlies.
There's no indication as to where Benn will play in the lineup as of yet, but he has shown the ability to play up and down the lineup this season, starting on the third pair and playing his way up to the top pair alongside Morgan Rielly after Brodie suffered his injury.
