The inconsistent officiating continues, as a play from Saturday night's Leafs/Caps game is raising some eyebrows in Leafs Nation. The play occurred in the 2nd period, when Justin Holl and Anthony Mantha appeared to be racing into the corner for a puck. The problem was that Mantha made no attempt to play the puck and instead used his speed and positioning to try to inflict some pain on Holl.

Typically, with plays like these, it's a clear-cut interference call. However, the officials in last evening's game appeared to be just "letting the boys play", calling just 4 minor penalties for a combined 8 penalty minutes all night. This coming on a night where the Caps outhit the Leafs 37-17.
While most of the hits were fine, this one was questionable to say the least. Thankfully, Holl was able to make his way back to his feet an make his way off the ice under his own strength, though I'm sure he did let the officials hear it before he left the ice without his helmet, which had been knocked off when Mantha tried to shove his head into the boards.
