There is change afoot in Toronto, as the Leafs announced on Friday that they have made a significant change to the front office. The report comes from TSN's Chris Johnston and confirms that Director of Hockey Strategy and Director of Pro Scouting, Eric Joyce, is leaving the team.
Johnston revealed on Friday on Twitter that Joyce is in the final year of his deal with the Leafs and instead of negotiating an extension for Joyce to remain with the club, the two sides agreed to mutually terminate his contract and allow him to seek opportunities elsewhere.
It's really anyone's guess what happens from here, but the Leafs have shown in the past that they like to promote from within the organization. Having said that, since Kyle Dubas puts a heavy focus on drafting and developing the organization's prospects, it's far more likely than not that he'll look to bring in someone with experience in the position.
