Morgan Rielly has been out of the lineup with an MCL sprain since late November after he collided with Devils forward Kyle Palmeri. The initial recovery time for Rielly was noted as 4-6 weeks.

Rielly returned to the ice last week, skating by himself and at the time, Sheldon Keefe said he is still «aways away» from returning. Given the initial 4-6 week timeline, Rielly will likely be returning in mid to late January. So long as he doesn't have any setbacks in his recovery.
Rasmus Sandin also joined the Leafs for the morning skate today, after he was injured last week with a neck injury. The Leafs said he would not be playing tonight and would need the break before re-evaluating him.
It is a good sign that both are well enough to join the Leafs on their mini three game road-trip and both could be back sooner than later.
