One of Edmonton's prospective defenseman of the future has sadly been forced into early retirement at only the age of 31.

Oscar Klefbom, a 6'3 Swede who was drafted with the 19th overall pick in 2011 projected to be a huge part of the new look Edmonton Oilers, and was to be a staple in the lineup for years to come. He had decent start to his NHL career with 20 points in 2014-15 and a career high 38 in 2016-17 however was consistently derailed by injuries, and he managed only a full season once which was in the aforementioned 2016-17 season.
His last season came in 2019-2020 and his lingering shoulder injuries were never going to improve; he confirmed his retirement to Nya Wermlands Tidningen (a Swedish news company) as per Tyler Kuehl of Daily Faceoff.
We here at Maple Leafs Latest wish Klefbom the best in his future, and one would hope a coaching gig, or a mentor role to younger players could be in his future but for now, health is #1.
